Creative Women of Lansdowne II celebrates the powerful legacy and ongoing vitality of women’s creativity in Lansdowne, PA. Featuring an intergenerational roster of 53 women artists ranging from established professionals to emerging young talents and skilled hobbyists, this exhibition honors the wide spectrum of artistry found across our town’s homes, studios, and gathering spaces.
The works on display reflect the depth and diversity of Lansdowne’s creative community: bold, experimental, quiet, contemplative, joyful, and deeply rooted in care. These pieces not only represent individual expression but speak to a broader culture of collaboration and shared purpose that has long defined our Borough.
Lansdowne’s history is rich with women’s leadership in civic, intellectual, and artistic life. The founding of the 20th Century Club in 1897 created a hub for women-led dialogue and action around arts and community, laying a foundation that continues today. Lansdowne’s current Borough Council reflects that enduring tradition, with women occupying the majority of seats and shaping the town’s future with strength and vision.
This exhibition is a celebration of that continuum, from the women who shaped our institutions and neighborhoods to the artists whose work brings new energy to our present moment. It is a tribute to the power of art as connection, to the importance of shared visibility, and to the stories we tell through making.
We invite you to experience the work of your neighbors, family members, and fellow citizens. Come be inspired by the creative force of Lansdowne’s women, the backbone of our community.
